Tokyo Auto Salon
Video coverage of the 2008 Tokyo Auto Salon in Chiba, Japan. For those of
you that have never been to the Tokyo Auto Salon before, it's the largest
car show in Japan for the aftermarket / tuner market. Manufacturers display
their newest products for the car tuner enthusiast. Various tuning genres
are represented from drifting, to time battle, to VIP styling, and vanning,
just about everything is represented at TAS. The Tokyo Auto Salon is
also a great place to catch a glimpse of people you may have only seen on
Option Video, like Keiichi Tsuchiya, Daijiro Inada, Tarzan Yamada, Akira
Iida, Mr. Amemiya, or any of the other D1 Grand Prix drivers and tuning shop
owners.

Auto Salon 2008 Race Queens & Promo Girls
Here's a video slide show of the race queens and promo girls at the 2008
Tokyo Auto Salon. Manufacturers and display booths hire these models to
stand around in skimpy outfits and help to draw spectators into their
booths. Some of the larger vendors, like tire manufacturers, even hire
entertainers to sign and dance at their booths. Another interesting
sight at the Tokyo Auto Salon is the hordes of semi-pro photographers clamoring
for a good picture of a popular race queen. From what we understand, these
photographers make photo cards and prints which are traded and sold to other
collectors. Even car show models have paparazzi these days?

Auto Salon 2008 D1 Grand Prix Drifting Demonstration
One of the outside areas near the Makuhari Messe convention center was
cleared out this year for the Tokyo Auto Salon D1 Grand Prix demo. Top
drivers from the D1 Grand Prix series had a chance to run their vehicles and
show off for the Tokyo Auto Salon crowd. Bringing drifting right into
the city has been a great way to introduce car enthusiasts to the allure of
drifting live as compared to watching it on TV or the internet.
