Wangan
Midnight
Following in the tradition of Initial D, here's "Wangan Midnight" created by Michiharu Kusunoki. Wangan Midnight is the story of high school student Akio Asakura who races nightly on the Shuto Expressway through Tokyo. In the junkyard, Akio finds and rescues an S30 Datsun 240z whose unbelievable speed makes him nearly unbeatable. Unfortunately for Akio, the former owner of the Z was killed in a street racing accident on the Wangan leading many to believe that the "devil" Z is a cursed vehicle. Wangan midnight follows the story of Akio and his battles in and with his Z. Akio also meets various racers through his nightly sprints along the expressway and is constantly battling for supremacy with his arch-nemesis a 911 Porsche Turbo named the "Black Bird."
