After one month off,
due to the SEMA show in November, the Drift Session returned with a
full field of beginner and advanced drivers. Advanced drivers took
to the Short Course for continuous lapping while the beginners were
reserved to the Long Course Turn 1 Straightaway. Numerous
vehicles have seen impressive buildups during the 2004 season and
more up and coming drivers promise even greater achievements during
2005.
Preparing for what
may be soon to come, a lone driver from Maui shipped his vehicle to
Oahu just to participate with the rest of the Drift Session's best
on the Short Course. An impressive display of drifting by our friend
from the Garden Isle, who will hopefully join us again soon.
An impressive season
in 2004 has come to an end, as all drivers have progressed and new
challenges await in 2005. Congratulations to 2004 Drift Session
Points Championship winner Barry Wong, who took home 8 of 11
victories in the competition series. As we look to 2005, Barry will
be hoping to take home the victory again as new drivers set their
aim on his title.
Also joining us once
again was, Ryo Nagaoka from Crossover Yokohama; a high horsepower
and ECU tuning shop in Tokyo, Japan. Nagaoka visited us once in June
and came back again to check out Hawaii's best drifters and various
local tuning shops. Mahalos to Hypersports and Endless Garage for
letting Nagaoka check out their garages and project cars during his
stay in Hawaii.
Congratulations
Hawaii for having the highest numbers of driver participation in a
drifting event in the United States. While the mainland may have big
crowds of spectators, the Drift Session is full of
drifters. Thank you for making Hawaii the unofficial capital of
actual drifting in the United States.
